Are You Over 40?

Everyone is at risk of developing Heart Disease, Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes or Kidney Disease but these disease can often be prevented.

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in England aged 50 years and over.

Within the last 5 years, Primary Care in Bolton has successfully undertaken health checks on almost 79% of the target population. Subsequently, 21,000 patients have been identified as being at ‘HIGH RISK’ through having a health check. The health check has identified other undiagnosed conditions: 800 patients were found to have diabetes and a further 2000 patients were found to have Chronic Kidney Disease.

NHS health checks are aimed at people between the ages of 40-74 years that do not already have a history of CHD, Stroke, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Familial Hypercholestrolaemia and Diabetes.

Those patients that do not suffer from the above should have an NHS health check every 5 years.
